Políticas públicas para impulsar las energías renovables en México

J. M. Islas Samperio, G. K. Grande Acosta

This article analyzes contemporary environmental and energy issues at both national and international level as well as the favorable context for implementing public policies to promote the use of renewable energy (ER). It also presents the theoretical background and features of a number of public policy instruments applied at international level to successfully promote the use of ER in the electric power sector. Finally, a 57% renewable energy scenario for 2030 is constructed for the Mexican electric power sector. This scenario raises the relevance of the use of public policy instruments to make it feasible.
