Author Guidelines

Revista Mexicana de Física publishes articles  in English but occasionally also in Spanish. Submited manuscripts must contain: title; name, institution and address of each author; an abstract and one to five keywords. Articles in Spanish must include title and abstract in English.

NOTE: Please avoid writing acronyms in title and abstract.

Manuscripts should be organized in numbered sections, with subtitles and references. References must be presented as follows: authors’ name, manuscript title, journal’s name (abbreviated according to international conventions), volume number in bold face, year (within parentheses), first page number, and DOI hyper-link. For books the reference must include: author´s name, book's name, publisher, place of publication and corresponding pages. Examples:

Please register as an author and upload your work, in pdf format, following the instructions.  You must classify your article in one of the corresponding sections: Atomic and Molecular Physics; Condensed Matter; Fluid Dynamics; Gravitation, Mathematical Physics and Field Theory; High Energy Physics; Instrumentation; Material Sciences; Medical Physics; Nuclear Physics; Optics; Plasma Physics; Solid State Physics; Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics; Other Areas of Physics; Comments.
The manuscript must be submitted with a presentation letter addressed to the Journal's Chief Editor, Dr. Alejandro Ayala, signed by  the author to whom correspondence should be addressed.

The Journal will notify the author upon receipt of the manuscript and a reference number will be assigned which should be used in any further communication. In this manner, you will be able to follow up on line the progress of the editorial process.

By submitting an article to Revista Mexicana de Física the author(s) agrees that the article has not been published and will not be simultaneously submitted to another journal. In order to check the originality and plagiarism-free content of submitted papers, Revista Mexicana de Física runs each contribution through a plagiarism-free software.

Articles submitted to the Revista Mexicana de Física undergo a review process by worldwide specialized, independent, anonymous referees. final decision on the publication of a paper is the sole responsibility of the Journal Chief Editor. Authors may appeal an editor's decision by sending an appeal letter. The Chief Editor will consider the appeal and in case this is sustained, she/he will seek the opinion of the corresponding section editor and if necesary of a second reviewer.

Papers are evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

  1. Originality
  2. A clear separation of hypothesis, methods and conclusions
  3. Clarity of analysis
  4. An adequate number of references
  5. Appropriate length
  6. Information conveyed by legible and understandable wording

Once an article is accepted, the author will be asked for the final files, preferably in LaTeX format (the use of LATEX speeds up the editing process, in this case, it is recommended to include \ documentclass {article} in the preamble). The illustrations files (figures, drawings, photographs, etc.) will be required in bmp or jpg format, with at least 1200 points in one of their axes, as well as a legible legend and an appropriate size. The table and the legends of the figures should be listed consecutively at the end of the article. Color illustrations will turn to a gray scale in the printed edition, but the online version will maintain the color.  Publish papers are assigned a DOI.

Revista Mexicana de Física strives to shorten the time elapsed between reception and publication of papers by sending the received pieces to peer review within one week after reception and sending weekly reminders to reviewers after two weeks of the original request. After acceptance, articles  will appear in the upcoming issue.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in PDF file format.
  3. The text adheres to the stylistic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  4. The bibliography adheres to the stylistic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
