Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

Revista Mexicana de Física publishes articles  in English but occasionally also in Spanish. TA Submited manuscript must contain: title; name, institution and address of each author; an abstract; one to five keywords; and one to three PACS code numbers of the American Institute of Physic. Articles in Spanish must include abstracts in English.

NOTE: Please avoid writing acronyms in Title and Abstract.

Manuscripts should be organized in numbered sections, with subtitles and references. References must be presented as follows: authors’ name, journal’s name (abbreviated according to international conventions), volume number in bold face, year (within parentheses), and first page number. For books the reference must include: author´s name, book's name, publisher, place of publication and corresponding pages. Examples:

  • E. Ley-Koo, Rev. Mex. Fis. 64 (2018) 326.

  • D.J. Griffiths, Introduction to Electrodynamics, 2nd ed. (Prentice Hall, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, 1989), pp. 331–334.

References and footnotes should be numbered consecutively.

To submit an article to Revista Mexicana de Física, authors are encoraged to use our wb site https://rmf.smf.mx/ojs. Alternatively, the complete manuscript should be sent, in PDF format, to the e-mail address: rmf@ciencias.unam.mx. The manuscript must be submitted with a presentation letter addressed to the Journal's Chief Editor, Dr. Alejandro Ayala, signed by at least one of the authors. The letter must classify the paper (Research,, Comment, Errata) and include: name, phone number, postal and e-mail addresses of the author to whom correspondence should be addressed.

By submitting an article to Revista Mexicana de Física the author(s) agrees that the article has not been published and will not be simultaneously submitted to another journal.

The Journal will notify the author upon receipt of the manuscript and a reference number will be assigned which should be used in any further communication.

Articles submitted to Revista Mexicana de Física undergo a review process by specialized, independent, anonymous referees. The final decision on the publication of a paper is the sole responsibility of the Journal's  Chief Editor.

Once an article is accepted, the author will be requested the corresponding Word or LATEX files (use of LATEX speeds up the editing process; in this case, it is recommended to include \documentclass{article} in the preamble). Illustrations files (figures, drawings, photographs, etc.) shall be required in bmp or jpg format, with at least 1200 points in one of their axes, as well as legible legend and suitable size. Table and figure captions should be listed consecutively at the end of the article.

Color illustrations will turn to a gray scale in the printed edition, but the online version will maintain the color.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Abstract
  2. PACS (Physics and Astronomy Classification Scheme)
  3. Keywords
  4. References as follows: authors’ name, journal’s name (abbreviated according to international conventions), volume number in black types, year (in parentheses), and first page number. For books the reference must include: author´s name, name of the book, publisher, place of publication and corresponding pages. Optionaly please also provide the URL of the reference.
