Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the Revista Mexicana de Física E web portal, which runs on Open Journal Systems (OJS) 3.3. The corresponding author must register and create an account at:

https://rmf.smf.mx/ojs/index.php/rmf-e

Once logged in, click "Make a New Submission" on your dashboard and complete the five steps described below. The system saves your progress automatically; you may pause and resume at any time before final submission.

Step 1. Start

Select the Article Classification on the "Section" drop-down menu. Then read and check each of the submission requirements:

  • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review elsewhere.
  • The file is in PDF format and uses the LaTeX RMF template.
  • All metadata for the contact author and all co-authors, without exception, including the ORCID identifier. Otherwise, your contribution will not be processed.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • A graphical abstract (cover image) is included as a separate file. It must be a single, clear image that represents the manuscript.

At the bottom of this step, paste your cover letter into the "Comments for the Editor" text box. It must include: article title, brief summary of the scientific contribution, confirmation of originality, and a statement that all authors have approved the submission.

Step 2. Upload Submission

Upload your files using the file manager. Each file must be assigned a component type:

File Component
PDF manuscript Article Text
PDF cover letter Cover Letter
High-resolution figures Graphical Abstract

Click "Upload File", select the component type, choose the file, and confirm. Repeat for every file. When all files are listed, click "Save and Continue".

Step 3. Enter Metadata

  • Title and abstract in Spanish or English.
  • Keywords: enter 1–5 keywords per language, pressing Enter after each one.
  • Contributors: add all co-authors with full name, email, affiliation, country, biography, and ORCID iD. Mark the corresponding author with the "Primary Contact" checkbox.
  • References: paste the full reference list in plain text, one reference per line. OJS will parse DOIs automatically.

Step 4. Confirmation

Review all uploaded files and metadata. Use "Back" to correct any step. Once ready, click "Finish Submission". A confirmation email will be sent to the corresponding author.

Step 5. Next Steps

After submission, the manuscript enters the RMF-E editorial workflow with four stages visible in your dashboard:

  • Submission: The editor-in-chief checks scope and format compliance.
  • Review: A section editor invites peer reviewers. Authors receive notifications at each decision point.
  • Copyediting: The production team requests editable source files (.tex) for copyediting.
  • Production: Galley proofs (PDF) are shared via OJS for author approval before publication.

Track your manuscript status anytime under "My Submissions" on your dashboard.

The Journal will notify the author upon receipt of the manuscript and a reference number will be assigned which should be used in any further communication. In this manner, you will be able to follow up on line the progress of the editorial process.

Policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence in research and scientific writing

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools and systems may not be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript, as they are unable to assume responsibility for the scientific content, data integrity, conflict-of-interest disclosures, copyright obligations, or compliance with the ethical and legal principles associated with academic authorship.

Revista Mexicana de Física E permits the limited use of artificial intelligence tools exclusively as auxiliary support for spelling correction, grammatical revision, language editing, or improvement of writing style, provided that such use does not involve the substantial generation of scientific content, results, interpretations, analyses, discussions, or conclusions.

The use of artificial intelligence tools is strictly prohibited for:

  • generating scientific manuscripts totally or partially;
  • producing scientific results, interpretations, discussions, or conclusions;
  • create, modifying, manipulating, or misrepresenting data, images, figures, or scientific evidence;
  • generating fictitious, nonexistent, or unverifiable bibliographic references;
  • replacing the critical interpretation, scientific analysis, intellectual contribution, or ethical responsibility of the authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and validity of all submitted material, regardless of whether automated linguistic or editorial support tools were used during manuscript preparation.

Whenever artificial intelligence tools have been used to assist in the linguistic or editorial preparation of a manuscript, authors must explicitly disclose such use, specifying both the tool employed and the precise purpose for which it was used.

The editorial team reserves the right to request additional information or clarifications concerning the use of artificial intelligence at any stage of the editorial process. Undeclared, misleading, inappropriate, or unethical use of artificial intelligence tools, contrary to accepted standards of scientific integrity and editorial ethics, may result in rejection of the manuscript or, in the case of published articles, the issuance of corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, or article withdrawal.

Revista Mexicana de Física E will maintain this policy under continuous review in light of technological developments, international discussions on publication ethics, and recommendations issued by organizations specialized in scholarly publishing and research integrity.
