Los participantes de este número especial dedicado al Profe Germi, al que pudiese catalogarse el Padre de las ciencias de la complejidad en México, hemos querido rendir este modesto homenaje. Nos pareció oportuno, que la mejor forma de rendirle un justo homenaje a Germi, era recoger de forma sucinta, los criterios y las vivencias de una serie de colegas y amigos, so pena de haber omitido alguno.

Started in September 1992, and meant to take place every three years in an Iberoamerican country, the Ibero American Optics Meeting (RIAO) joined the Latin American Meeting of Optics, Lasers and their Applications (OPTILAS) in 1998, and as of then, they have been held jointly, thus becoming RIAO-OPTILAS. In its current edition, RIAO-OPTILAS coincided with the Mexican Optics and Photonics Meeting (MOPM).

The Second International Congress ”Light Science Art” (II-CILCA) gives continuity to the First International Congress ”Light Science and Art” (I-CILCA) inspired by the celebrations of the International Year of Light 2015 and Light-Based Technologies, which was promulgated by UNESCO at the 68th meeting on December 20, 2013.
