Focus and Scope

Revista Mexicana de Física (Rev. Mex. Fis.) is a scientific journal published bimontlhy by Sociedad Mexicana de Física, A. C.

Revista Mexicana de Física publishes original papers of interest to the physical science community. Language may be English or Spanish, however, given the nature of our readership, English is recommended.

By submitting an article to Revista Mexicana de Física the author(s) agrees that the article has not been published and will not be simultaneously submitted to another journal.

There is no publication fee.

Signed papers are the authors' sole responsibility.

Full or partial reproduction of articles is authorized for authors and readers providing the proper bibliographic citation: Rev. Mex. Fis.

Peer Review Process

Articles submitted to the Revista Mexicana de Física undergo a strict review process carried out by worldwide specialized, independent, anonymous referees. The final decision on the publication of a paper is the sole responsibility of the Journal's Chief Editor. Authors may appeal an editor's decision by sending an appeal letter. The Chief Editor will consider the appeal and in case this is sustained, she/he will seek the opinion of the corresponding section editor and if necessary of a second reviewer.

Papers are evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Originality
  • A clear separation of hypothesis, methods and conclusions
  • Clarity of analysis
  • An adequate number of references
  • Appropriate length
  • Information conveyed by legible and understandable wording

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Authors retain copyright and grant the Revista Mexicana de Física right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

Journal History

Revista Mexicana de Física first appeared in 1952. Its first Director was Marcos Moshinsky. The journal has been published continuously ever since and has served as one of the principal scientific outlets for the physics community in Mexico.

Throughout its history the journal has been guided by distinguished physicists who served as Chief Editors and contributed to the development and international visibility of the journal.

Marcos Moshinsky

Marcos Moshinsky

Chief Editor: 1952–1967

Marcos Moshinsky (1921–2009) was a renowned theoretical physicist and one of the founders of modern physics in Mexico. He made important contributions to nuclear physics and quantum many-body theory, including the well-known Moshinsky transformation brackets. He was a professor at UNAM and received several international distinctions for his scientific work.

Mariano Bauer

Mariano Bauer

Chief Editor: 1967–1969

Mexican physicist who contributed to the development of physics education and research during the growth of the scientific community in Mexico in the 1960s. During his editorial leadership he helped maintain the continuity of the journal after its founding period.

Jorge Flores

Jorge Flores

Chief Editor: 1969–1973

Physicist known for his contributions to theoretical and nuclear physics. During his period as editor the journal strengthened its editorial processes and broadened its scientific scope.
