Mathematical properties of DNA sequences from coding and noncoding regions
Keywords:
Long-range correlations, DNA mathematical analysis, fractal dynamicsAbstract
Several nonlinear techniques have been applied to analyze DNA sequences. As a result, some mathematical properties that distinguish both coding and noncoding regions have emerged. We review and apply some of these techniques selecting some examples and comparing our results with previously published data. We also discuss the main controversies that have been raised in terms of the different taken approaches, particularly the presence or absence of long-range correlations in coding regions.Downloads
