Focus and Scope

Revista Mexicana de Física (Rev. Mex. Fis.) is a scientific journal published by Sociedad Mexicana de Física, A. C. It publishes original, high-quality research papers of interest to the international physical science community. The journal welcomes contributions in either English or Spanish; however, given the global nature of our readership and citation impact, English is strongly reco. The fundamental purpose of the Revista Mexicana de Física is to publish the research work in physics carried out by the institutions of Mexico and Latin America.

By submitting an article to Revista Mexicana de Física, the author(s) confirms that the manuscript has not been published previously, nor is it under consideration for publication elsewhere. Any overlap with previously published work must be clearly disclosed and properly cited. The journal adheres to the highest ethical standards, and all submissions are screened for originality.

There is no publication fees: Revista Mexicana de Física does not charge authors for submission, processing, or publication (no APCs). Open access without financial barriers for authors.

Signed papers reflect the sole responsibility of the authors. The journal’s editors and the Sociedad Mexicana de Física assume no legal liability for the statements or opinions expressed in the published articles.

Full or partial reproduction of articles is authorized for authors and readers, provided proper bibliographic credit is given: Rev. Mex. Fis. (with volume, year, and DOI when applicable). This policy encourages educational and non-commercial reuse while respecting original publication rights.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Revista Mexicana de Física undergo a rigorous peer review process (Anonymous Reviewer/Disclosed Author by default). The review is carried out by worldwide specialized, independent, and anonymous referees who are experts in the relevant field. The journal ensures fairness, confidentiality, and constructive evaluation.

The final decision on the publication of a paper is the sole responsibility of the Journal's Chief Editor, based on the reviewers' recommendations and the journal's scope. In the case of a rejection, the editorial office provides a summary of substantial reasons. Authors may appeal an editorial decision by submitting a formal appeal letter to the Chief Editor, providing a point-by-point response to the concerns raised. The Chief Editor will consider the appeal; if the appeal is sustained, she/he/they will seek the opinion of the corresponding section editor and, if necessary, consult a second reviewer or a member of the Editorial Board.

Evaluation criteria: papers are assessed on the following fundamental aspects:

  • Originality: significant new contribution to physics or related disciplines.
  • A clear separation of hypothesis, methods, and conclusions (logical structure).
  • Clarity of analysis: data and theoretical arguments are well‑presented and reproducible.
  • An adequate number of references that appropriately contextualize the work.
  • Appropriate length: concise but sufficiently detailed; no strict page limit, but economy of text is appreciated.
  • Information conveyed by legible and understandable wording (grammatically correct, accurate scientific language).

The journal strives to deliver first decision within 4–6 weeks from submission, depending on reviewer availability. Revised manuscripts are re‑evaluated promptly. See the Reviewer Guideline for details.

Likewise, it is the responsibility of the authors, not of the Revista Mexicana de Física, to determine whether the disclosure of their material requires prior third-party consent and, if so, to obtain it.
