Abstract

Undoped and aluminum-doped ZnO (AZO) thin films were prepared by the sol-gel method using spin coating. The films exhibited the characteristic wurtzite crystal structure of ZnO with a preferential orientation along the c-axis. Surface and cross-sectional morphologies were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), revealing noticeable differences between the doped and undoped films. The optical transmittance was approximately 77% in the 450-750 nm range. Electrical resistivity decreased from 1.9×105 Ω·cm (ZnO) to 1.0×102 Ω·cm (AZO). These results suggest that low-level Al doping enhances the electrical properties while preserving good optical transparency in AZO thin films. Furthermore, the results highlight the correlation between structural, optical, and electrical properties in ZnO and AZO thin films.
